Pointer Sisters Added to Fair Lineup
The Pointer Sisters are among the latest acts signed to play this year’s Southern California Exposition. Sisters Anita, June and Ruth Pointer, whose rhythm and blues vocalizing has brought them several hit singles, will perform the June 18 night show following a matinee concert by rock singer Nicolette Larson. Both acts were announced Wednesday.
Other acts announced this week are the Johnny Mann Singers, who perform choral arrangements of popular standards (June 23), rock vocalist Kim Carnes (June 23), soft rocker Billy Vera and the Beaters (June 30) and the country-rock Desert Rose Band (July 2).
Among the previously announced entertainers for the exposition, also known as the Del Mar Fair, are Johnny Cash (July 4); Smokey Robinson (June 29); country band Highway 101 (June 22); country singer Lee Greenwood (June 25); pop crooner Bobby Vinton; and the 30th Anniversary of Rock ‘n’ Roll (July 3), consisting of 14 acts.
A total of 20 acts will perform during the June 16-July 4 fair.
