Greek actor Spiro Focas, who portrays Afghan freedom fighter Ahmed Shah Massoud in “Rambo III,” helped distribute leaflets calling attention to the war-torn nation to “Rambo”-goers Wednesday at the UA Coronet Theatre in Westwood. “I am distributing pamphlets to the audience so they can know more than what they see,” Focas said. The pamphlets, prepared by the Committee for a Free Afghanistan, describe the plight of some 5 million Afghan refugees who went to Pakistan to flee the communist government in Kabul. “The Afghan tragedy is just (described) by a statement I make to Rambo,” Focas said of the film. “But these are just words. We couldn’t go into the story because it is an action film, not a documentary.”
