Forecast for Holiday Follows Script for May

Memorial Day revelers, rejoice. The weather for the upcoming holiday weekend promises to be extremely--average.

Which is not all bad. Typical San Diego weather for this time of year means night and morning low clouds, mild temperatures and sunny afternoons.

In the words of the National Weather Service’s Wilbur Shigehara: “You know that song, ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas?’ Well, this is beginning to look a lot like May.”

Those morning low clouds may stick around a little longer than usual on Memorial Day and cast some gloom on beach-goers, but the day should be sunny elsewhere in the county, Shigehara said.

Highs for the beaches are expected to be 64 to 69 degrees today through Sunday, down a degree or two on Monday. Inland highs are expected to hit 67 to 73 degrees. The mountains are to stay relatively warm at 68 to 75 degrees, and it is forecast that the deserts will bake at 100 degrees and more.

Overnight lows in the coastal areas will be 57 to 62 degrees. Inland lows will be 52 to 57, and mountain lows will dip to 42 to 50. Desert lows will be 65 to 72.
