Local News in Brief : DMV Signs Lease for Office in N. Hollywood
Expansion of the Department of Motor Vehicles into North Hollywood was approved Thursday as state officials signed a long-term lease for a 7,700-square-foot building at 10940 Victory Blvd.
The DMV will rent the former Automobile Club of Southern California office for $13,000 a month. The agency will take over the building when $260,000 in remodeling is completed in about 60 days, officials said.
The building was purchased from the Auto Club in January for $1.08 million by Encino investor Ricky Gelb after the club shut its North Hollywood regional office, said real estate agent Mort Allen, who helped negotiate the lease.
Allen said Gelb outbid several mini-mall developers for the site. He said the DMV office will have 85 parking spaces available to employees and patrons registering cars or renewing driver’s licenses.
