In the other City 4-A semifinal:

San Pedro 12, Chatsworth 3--The Chancellors committed 10 errors, five in the second inning when San Pedro scored six runs.

Chatsworth (15-3) did not score a run until the sixth when Dana Lewis singled to score Kelly Tubin.

Lewis’ single and base hits by Tubin, Mara Phillips, Latoya Williams and Debbie Stevens accounted for all of Chatsworth’s offense.

Senior right-hander Christina Roopenian, who struck out six and tossed a five-hitter, suffered the loss.

SOUTHERN SECTION 4-A DIVISION

Fountain Valley 2, Thousand Oaks 1--The Lancers managed only four hits, committed two errors and were eliminated in eight innings in a quarterfinal.

Thousand Oaks (24-8) was bidding to return to the championship game, which it lost last year to Cypress, 5-0.

With the bases loaded in the top of the eighth, Becky Bell scored the winning run when Rae Rice reached base on an error.

Fountain Valley scored a run in the first inning, but the Lancers matched it in the bottom of the inning when Amy Chellevold scored on an error.

St. Joseph 1, Burroughs 0--Andrea Lopicolo singled to score Bev Stiglbauer in the seventh and give St. Joseph a quarterfinal win.

Christy Alves (17-4) pitched a four-hitter for Burroughs, but the Indians managed only two hits.

1-A DIVISION

La Reina 3, Norte Vista 2--Sandi Reese’s sixth-inning three-run home run lifted La Reina (19-5) to a quarterfinal win at Norte Vista.

Sherri Sisco pitched a four-hitter and was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Keri Sweeney also was 2 for 3.

SMALL SCHOOLS

Avalon 3, L. A. Lutheran 2--L. A. Lutheran players awoke before dawn to catch a boat to Catalina Island, but the Lions missed the boat to the semifinal round by surrendering two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
