A development company has been ordered to pay $10,471 in fines and restitution after pleading no contest to nine misdemeanors stemming from slum conditions at a Wilshire District apartment building.

Municipal Court Commissioner Barry Cohn ruled that $6,700 of the amount paid by the Hollywood company, Vadehra Enterprises Inc., must go to the Fred Jordan Mission, which provides free meals to the homeless, and Las Familias del Pueblo, which helps families move away from the Skid Row district.

The charges stemmed from violations of various fire, building and safety and health codes discovered by inspectors last fall at a four-story, 39-unit apartment building in the 600 block of South Shatto Place, City Atty. James K. Hahn said.

Since the charges were filed in April, 1987, the development company has spent more than $500,000 to renovate the property and make the repairs necessary to bring it into compliance with all codes, prosecutors said.
