A 41-year-old Huntington Beach woman was killed Friday afternoon on the San Diego Freeway just south of Seal Beach Boulevard when her Volkswagen convertible collided with two trucks, a van and another car, the California Highway Patrol reported.

CHP spokeswoman Leslie Hill said officers found between $500 and $1,000 worth of cocaine and marijuana in the driver’s possession. None of the other drivers or passengers were injured.

Hill said the victim, whose name was not released pending notification of her family, was traveling north on the freeway at about 1:40 p.m. when she and the driver of a big-rig truck collided while changing into the lane between them. The car and the truck then skidded toward the center divider and were struck by a Chevrolet Chevette traveling in the second lane and an airport shuttle van in the first lane.

The Volkswagen then hit the center wall and spun all the way back to the shoulder on the other side of the freeway, where it slid underneath another big rig. The driver was pinned underneath the truck and died at the scene, Hill said.

The accident where a construction project has forced closure of the inside shoulder of the freeway.
