Local News in Brief : Dapplegray Bids Delayed

Bids on the sale of the closed Dapplegray Intermediate School will not be opened as scheduled on Wednesday because of a delay in completing a purchase agreement with Rolling Hills Estates, a spokeswoman for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District said.

Spokeswoman Nancy Mahr said the city last week passed a resolution indicating its intention to buy about 10 acres of the 43-acre site under provisions of the Naylor Act, which gives public agencies first rights on purchasing up to 30% of a surplus school property at 25% of the market value.

But the exact boundaries of the city’s share of Dapplegray have not been determined, making it unlikely that developers will make their best offer on the rest of the site. Mahr said opening of bids on the remaining portion has been rescheduled for July 21, with $6 million as the minimum bid acceptable.
