The Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, which began as the Westwood Village Merchants Assn. in 1930, is changing its name to the Los Angeles Business Council.

The name will be formally changed at the group’s 58th annual installation dinner and dance on June 11 at the Century Plaza.

Dori Pye, the group’s president, said the name change is needed because membership as expanded beyond West Los Angeles into the San Fernando Valley and Orange County. She said the group’s focus has also moved beyond primarily social functions such as art shows and monthly business mixers to dealing with regional issues such as transportation and traffic, crime, housing and development.
