Chip Hanauer lost his unlimited hydroplane in a crash and drove a backup boat to victory in the Thunder on the Ohio for his seventh-straight Gold Cup title at Evansville, Ind.

Hanauer won with a hybrid built from the wrecks of his Miller High Life and the team’s sister craft, Miss Circus Circus, after colliding with Larry Lauderbach in the first heat of the day.
