President Reagan will occupy office space on the top floor of a Century City high-rise after he leaves the White house in January.

Terms of the lease for the President’s new office were not disclosed, but it is part of a planned move in the fall by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation into 2,500 square feet of space on the 34th floor of the Fox Plaza tower, foundation officials said Thursday.

In Friday’s editions, The Times incorrectly reported the cost of the Reagan presidential library in Ventura County as $60 million. The cost is actually $43 million, a spokeswoman for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation said.

C. Ronald Kimberling, the foundation’s executive director, said the move was prompted by the group’s continued work in directing the construction of the $60-million Reagan presidential library on a 100-acre site between Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley in Ventura County.

“The President’s office would be on the same floor as the foundation’s,” but in a separate area, Kimberling said.

The foundation currently has offices in another Century City building and in Washington.

While maintaining his ranch in the Santa Ynez Mountains above Santa Barbara during his years in the White House, the President has kept close ties to Los Angeles’ Westside for many years. When he was governor of California, the Reagans made their home above Sunset Boulevard in Pacific Palisades.

Reagan also kept an office in the Tishman building in Westwood for the five years between his two terms as governor and his election to the White House in 1980.

A group of Reagan friends arranged a complicated lease under which the Reagans will be able to live in a Bel-Air residence after the President leaves office. Under that agreement, the couple signed a three-year lease, with an option to renew the lease or purchase the home.
