The Bard Has His Patrons

Mayor (J. Tilman) Williams and Councilmen (Raymond T.) Littrell and (Robert F.) Dinsen of Garden Grove bewilder me. They appear to see the voters of their community as a whole different breed than I’ve known during 25 years of teaching in Garden Grove.

My associations have been with a wide cross section of people. Some enjoy sports on television, some are patrons of the Shakespeare Festival and many find entertainment in both. A common denominator, however, is the hope that their children will have a fighting chance to know the full spectrum of our cultural heritage.

No, gentlemen, my friends in Garden Grove are not insensitive clods. They are capable of enjoying the excellent Grove Theatre Company and the Grove Shakespeare Festival.
