South Korean students demonstrated in front of U.S. Army headquarters in Seoul and tried to march on the U.S. Embassy to mark the 35th anniversary of the end of the Korean War and demand the expulsion of U.S. troops. “Yankee go home!” the students yelled as riot police intercepted them. Police said 30 students were arrested at the Army headquarters. The students and dissidents trying to reach the embassy were blocked about a mile away and persuaded to move to a nearby park, police said. The United States has 43,000 troops in South Korea under a defense treaty.
