Local News in Brief : Countywide : Sites Announced for Free Disposal of Paint
Collection sites for the free disposal of leftover water-based paints, considered environmentally unsafe if dumped with regular garbage, have been arranged this weekend in Anaheim and next weekend in Huntington Beach by the county Fire Department’s hazardous materials office.
Only latex paints will be accepted Saturday at Anaheim Disposal Co., 2761 E. White Star Ave., and next Saturday at Rainbow Transfer and Recycling, 17121 Nichols St., Huntington Beach.
Sandi Schafer, the Fire Department’s project manager, said collection hours both days are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a maximum of 5 gallons per visit.
Schafer said it would be helpful for residents to consolidate their latex paints so that cans be brought in as full as possible.
