There’s No Accounting for Dodgers Allowing Valenzuela to Continue

As refreshing as it was to discover that sentimentality still exists in baseball, I sincerely hope Tommy Lasorda will in the future opt to protect a lead, rather than allow an ailing pitcher to serve up game-tying home runs.

I, too, have been avidly rooting for Fernando Valenzuela’s return to his previous form (now delayed by shoulder rehabilitation), but not at the expense of losing a pennant.
