Waiving Job Security

Certain segments of business realize that there is less than six months left of an Administration that has created an atmosphere conducive to the “age-old premise” that if one steals bread, he goes to the dungeon as a criminal for life. The employment-at-will clause is a stone-age concept, a throwback to the dark ages of labor relations, with people contending under the shadow of an imminent pink-slip ultimatum--a summary court martial of the workplace.

This is a “Sword of Damocles” environment contributing to anxiety and anguish, while genuflecting to the boss, realizing you are supporting your family at the pleasure of a possibly harsh and haughty taskmaster.

It is a fertile breeding ground for bootlicking sycophants who may not be near as competent as the more creative independent types.
