One-Half of UCLA Better Than the Whole

Congratulations to UCLA on one of the fiercest-played halves I’ve ever seen. Not even the officials could tarnish that victory against Nebraska.

Terry Donahue had a chance to showcase his Heisman candidate quarterback, Troy Aikman, who was 11 for 14 for 183 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first half alone.

But in the second half, Donahue called off his shock troops and played it conservatively. Steve Taylor started to show his Heisman credentials in an effort to bring Nebraska back.

If Aikman doesn’t win the Heisman this fall, Donahue may look back to the second half of the Nebraska game and remember he showcased most of Eric Ball’s 35 carries instead.
