The two-year home unbeaten streak of the Cal State Dominguez Hills women’s soccer team came to a frustrating halt Saturday when the Lady Toros fell, 1-0, to UC Davis in the opener of their second annual Lady Toro Cup and failed to get a shot on goal.
Davis managed only five shots on goal but won on Jeanne Robertson’s scoring shot at the 22-minute mark of the first half. The Lady Toros hadn’t lost at home in 17 straight games going back to Sept. 6, 1986.
In the tournament’s other game, Cal Poly Pomona upset Sonoma State, 2-0. Sonoma entered the weekend ranked second in the West.
Today’s tournament matchups are Pomona (2-1) facing Davis (4-1) at noon, followed by the Toros (1-3-1) vs. Sonoma (4-2) at 2.
