A Reseda man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after he abandoned his stalled pickup truck on railroad tracks in Northridge shortly before the vehicle was hit by a train, Los Angeles police said Monday.

Police said the driver, William Siebels, 31, was not injured and neither were any passengers on the Amtrak train, which demolished the truck. The incident occurred about 9 p.m. Sunday near the Lindley Avenue crossing of the Southern Pacific railroad.

Siebels was driving beside the railway on Napa Street approaching Lindley Avenue when his truck crossed onto the tracks and became stuck on the rails, police said. Siebels got out of the truck when he heard the Santa Barbara-bound train coming, and the vehicle was hit and pushed about 200 feet down the track before the train was able to stop, police said.
