The Philadelphia Phillies traded pitcher Shane Rawley and cash to the Minnesota Twins for second baseman Tommy Herr and two local minor league players.
Rawley, 33, is coming off his worst major league season. He finished 8-16 with an earned-run average of 4.18 after being sidelined for a month with a shoulder injury. He has a career mark of 106-106 with a 3.92 ERA in 11 seasons.
Herr, 32, played most of his career for the St. Louis Cardinals before he was traded to Minnesota in April for Tom Brunansky. He hit .260 in 15 games with the Cardinals and .263 in 86 games with the Twins.
The Phillies also acquired outfielder Eric Bullock, formerly of Southgate High, and catcher Tom Nieto, who attended Cerritos College.
