Irvine High School Receives No. 1 Seeding in the Girls’ State Volleyball Regionals
Irvine High School, which won the Southern Section 5-A championship Saturday night, received the No. 1 seeding in the girls’ State regional Division I volleyball pairings released Sunday by the California Interscholastic Federation.
The Vaqueros, who won the Southern Section 4-A title last year, will play the winner of today’s wild-card match between Roosevelt, the City 4-A runner-up, and Garfield, the City 3-A champion, in Tuesday’s first round.
In another Division I wild-card match tonight, Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach, the Southern Section 5-A runner-up, plays at Sunny Hills of Fullerton, the Southern Section 3-A champion.
San Diego University, seeded No. 1 in Division II, plays host to St. Anthony of Long Beach, the Southern Section 1-A champion, Tuesday in a semifinal match.
In Division III, No. 1-seeded San Diego Francis Parker plays host to Mission College Prep of San Luis Obispo, the Southern Section Small Schools champion, Tuesday in a semifinal match.
