Two former executives of Anheuser-Busch Inc. and two advertising executives charged with attempting to defraud the company and the government were sentenced to prison terms and fined in federal court. The former executives, Michael A. Orloff, 38, and Joseph E. Martino, 36, each were sentenced to nine years in prison on counts of mail fraud, conspiracy and filing a false tax return. Each was fined $10,000. Mark L. Shyres, 44, an advertising executive, was sentenced to a total of 14 years in prison on counts of mail fraud, conspiracy and two counts of tax evasion. Shyres also was fined $10,000. U.S. District Judge William L. Hungate also ordered the three to make a total of $30,000 in restitution to the St. Louis-based brewery. Marvin L. Cotlar, 50, who pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the Internal Revenue Service and cooperated with the government in its case, was sentenced to four years in prison and fined $10,000.
