Calloway was arrested shortly after the 11:30 p.m. Saturday shooting when police stopped the van in which he was riding because it matched the description of the vehicle involved in the incident, police said. A shooting victim later identified the van, police said.

The shooting occurred near Altadena Avenue and Mary Lou Street. One or more occupants of the van opened fire, possibly with automatic weapons, on a group of men who were standing on Mary Lou Street, police said.

The dead man was identified as Lloyd Wilbert Devoe Jr., 24, of San Diego.

Two wounded men were James Robbins, 19, treated at Paradise Valley Hospital and released, and Daryl Hadnot, in good condition Sunday at the Veterans Administration Hospital.
