Gahr 74, Katella 62--Raymond Johnson had 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocked shots to lead Gahr at Katella. Brian Yourstone scored 20 points for Katella (2-8).
In the Bosco Tech tournament:
Santa Ana Valley 87, Pomona 86--Taufic Surour made a 19-foot shot at the buzzer to win the second-round game. The Saints (6-3) trailed by 7 entering the fourth quarter and by 3 with less than 2 minutes left. Santa Ana Valley’s Ryan Singleton, who scored 32 points, tied the score with a 3-point field goal with 1:30 left.
In the Carson City tournament:
El Toro 56, Wooster (Nevada) 37--Greg Everett scored 16 points and Greg Reynolds 14 as the Chargers (6-4) won the championship of the round-robin tournament. Reynolds was named the tournament’s most valuable player.
In the Fullerton tournament:
Fullerton 88, Cerritos 86 (OT)--The Indians rallied from an 18-point third-quarter deficit to win their fifth consecutive game. Fullerton (5-3) trailed, 79-77, with less than a minute to go. Curtis Morris’ tipin of a shot by Pete Bach at the buzzer sent the game into overtime. Lee Green, who had 28 points, gave Fullerton an early lead in overtime with a 3-pointer. Bach, who had 19 points, iced the game with a 15-foot jumper with 30 seconds left. Fullerton will play Western tonight at 7:30 in the championship game.
Western 72, Servite 65--Joe Romero scored 20 points and Sam Sabbara 15 to lead Western in a semifinal game. Francis Salaria scored 15 points for Servite (4-4).
In the Patrick Henry tournament:
Los Alamitos 72, Rancho Buena Vista 56--Mike Wilson scored 17 points to lead the Griffins (2-7) in a consolation game.
In the Cypress girls’ tournament:
Savanna 47, Millikan 29--Jackie Boxley scored 15 points to lead Savanna (7-3) in a first-round game.
Mission Viejo 76, Orange 41--The Diablos used a balanced attack to win their second-round game. Jennifer Rohrig scored 15 points, Terrie Nauta 14, Tina Ranker 13 and Shannon Morgan 12 for Mission Viejo (8-0).
Marina 60, Woodbridge 51--Melisa Sortino scored 24 points to lead the Vikings (8-1). Kristy Sparks had 10 points and 12 rebounds for Marina.
In the La Quinta girls’ basketball tournament:
Westminster 46, Santiago 42--Cindy Kishasziki scored 15 of her game-high 24 points in the third quarter to lead Westminster in a first-round game. Becky Elcook led Santiago with 21 points, and Robin Caires added 11.
Santa Ana Valley 41, Los Amigos 21--Francesca Rumps had 22 points and 6 rebounds to lead Santa Ana Valley (4-3) in a first-round game.
La Quinta 83, El Modena 23--Amy Jalewalia scored a school-record 48 points for La Quinta (6-2). She added 13 steals. Tanya Krill had 12 points and 8 rebounds for La Quinta.
In the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions:
Colfax 44, Fountain Valley 21--Heather Baker led Colfax with 12 points. Fountain Valley is 5-4.
In the Simi Valley boys’ soccer tournament:
Fountain Valley 4, Iolani (Hawaii) 0--Steve Wright and Derek Mahoney scored 2 goals each in a consolation game. Fountain Valley is 8-3.
In nonleague soccer:
Mater Dei 6, Fullerton 0--Marty Williams scored 2 goals to lead host Mater Dei (3-3). Goalies John Vandemore, who made 8 saves, and Mike Ammann, who made 6, combined for the shutout.
