VOLUNTEERS : Riding Center Seeks Handlers for Horses

The Orange County Riding Center in San Juan Capistrano is seeking volunteers to assist riders and lead horses Tuesdays through Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Orientation will be held Jan. 14, beginning at 1 p.m. Information: (714) 953-5757.

The Women’s Transitional Living Center is seeking volunteers to assist with the domestic-violence hot line and provide transportation. Training is provided. (714) 582-3176.

Literacy Volunteers of Anaheim is offering two workshops to train volunteers to teach reading to functionally illiterate adults.

The basic reading workshop will begin Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m. The first session of the workshop on English as a second language will be held Jan. 14 at 9 a.m. Both will be held at Anaheim Public Library, 901 S. Sunkist St. (714) 821-0551.

The Cancer Support Foundation of Los Alamitos Medical Center is offering a 5-week training workshop. Qualified applicants will be trained to aid cancer patients and families at home or in the hospital.
