The Soviet Union and South Korea have agreed to open a direct sea link between the eastern Soviet port of Vladivostok and South Korea’s southern port of Pusan, the Korean news agency Yonhap reported Friday.

South Korean government officials declined, however, to comment on the local news reports, which said Soviet officials had visited Seoul on Wednesday for talks on opening maritime links.

Yonhap said Soviet officials also asked South Korea to permit their ships to visit other South Korean ports.
