The Celtics lost to the Denver Nuggets Tuesday night, 130-109, and Nugget Coach Doug Moe, never the soft-spoken type, was quoted by Peter May of the Hartford Courant as saying of the once-awesome Boston team, “They were awful. I can’t remember when I’ve seen them that bad.”

“Sometimes, it gets so exciting out there, Wilson can’t call the play right,” Nelson said. “We’re saying, ‘C’mon, c’mon, get it out.’ Just a group of things come out that don’t make any sense.”

Poor UCLA. Its longtime trainer and father figure, Ducky Drake, died Friday, and now the school’s sports information department has discovered that somebody wandered off with the entire clipping file on Drake. Sports Information Director Marc Dellins is hoping somebody runs across it and returns it soon, so proper records and historical items can be written about the deserving man.
