China bought 440,000 metric tons of wheat under an export subsidy offer made last week, the U.S. Agriculture Department announced. The department said it awarded subsidies averaging $22.64 per ton to export companies selling the wheat. The department also said that the Soviet Union bought 250,000 tons of non-subsidized corn.
