Ford Aerospace Wins $215-Million Contract for Warfare Simulator
WASHINGTON — Ford Aerospace & Communications Co. of Newport Beach has been awarded a Navy contract worth more than $215 million to develop electronic warfare simulator systems, the company said Thursday.
The purpose of the Simulator Device Development Support system is to simulate actual combat conditions that naval aircraft and surface ship crews would encounter in the modern electronic warfare battlefield, the company said.
The contract is in addition to awards that Ford has already received to maintain and operate electronic warfare training ranges throughout the world.
The contract was awarded by the Naval Weapons Center, China Lake, Calif., and the work will be performed by Ford’s Sunnyvale, Calif., division.
Ford Aerospace is a subsidiary of Ford Motor Co.
