Women’s College Basketball Roundup : Fullerton Beats UC Santa Barbara
Jill Maytuch and Gina Miller each scored 17 points to Cal State Fullerton to a 59-50 victory over UC Santa Barbara Thursday in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game at Santa Barbara.
It was the ninth consecutive victory for Titans (10-1, 2-0).
Fullerton led, 30-23, at halftime. The Titans’ defense controlled the second half as the Gauchos (4-7, 0-3) shot just 31% in the second half and 35% for the game.
Miller also had 9 rebounds and 7 blocked shots.
In another Big West game:
San Diego State 78, UC Irvine 47--Center Chana Perry scored 32 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to lead San Diego State (10-0, 2-0) at Irvine. Julie Evans scored 14 points for San Diego and Crystal Lee had 8 assists. Guard Kathy Lizarraga and center Natasha Parks each scored 14 points to lead the Anteaters (3-8, 0-3). Parks also grabbed 9 rebounds.
