Northridge Football Team Signs Four JC Prospects
Cal State Northridge has signed 4 more junior college football players, including Carl Robertson, a 6-foot, 3-inch, 240-pound fullback from Diablo Valley College.
Fullback is a key position for Northridge because of its reliance on a ground-oriented attack. The Matadors have Albert Fann, a two-time All-Western Football Conference selection, back for 2 more years. Robertson is expected to join him in the backfield.
“He’s a good blocker,” CSUN Coach Bob Burt said of Robertson.
Northridge also announced the signing of Richard Henderson, a 6-4, 265-pound offensive lineman from Allan Hancock College; Michael Newton, a 6-2, 230-pound outside linebacker from San Bernardino Valley; and Richard Kohler, a 6-2, 230-pound inside linebacker from Mt. San Antonio.
CSUN has signed 7 JC players and expects to receive letters from 3 more in the next few days. The Matadors intend to sign about 15 JC players, Burt said.
Still on the wish list are at least 3 defensive linemen. Northridge has not signed a player at the position, but Burt is not too concerned.
“Defensive linemen are the hardest to find,” Burt said. “You always get them late. Everybody wants them. You just have to battle and hope you can come up with some guys.”
