S.D. Fire Department Celebrates 100 Years
The San Diego Fire Department kicks off its first celebration planned to honor the department’s 100th anniversary at 11 a.m. today in the Casa del Prado, Balboa Park.
Deputy Mayor Judy McCarty will issue a city proclamation, and retired Navy Cmdr. Lloyd Bucher will present a 4-foot-by-6-foot collage charting the growth of the city in watercolors.
Old and new fire apparatus will be on display, and more than 300 firefighters and their families are expected to attend.
