Woman Killed in RTD Bus Accident
A woman was hit and killed Friday by a Rapid Transit District bus she was apparently trying to flag down in Santa Monica, police said.
Witnesses to the accident, which occurred about 3:15 p.m. at Main Street and Pico Boulevard, said the woman appeared to walk into the side of the RTD bus as it made a left turn at the intersection, Lt. Barney Melekian said.
The woman, who was about 25 years old, has not been identified, police said Saturday. The witnesses said she apparently was trying to flag down the bus as it turned and was struck by its rear wheels. The bus driver told officers he did not see the woman until after the incident. He was not cited.
