Local News in Brief : Anaheim : Candidates for Vacancy to Face School Board
Nine candidates who applied for a vacancy on the Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees will be interviewed at 6:30 p.m. today, the board announced.
A seat became open last November when trustee Thomas Daly was elected to the Anaheim City Council.
The interviews will be done at the Anaheim Education Center board room, 501 Crescent Way.
The candidates for Daly’s unexpired term are Arthur Brown, a deputy Los Angeles County sheriff who lives in Buena Park; Penny Brown, a former teacher from Cypress; Hersh Cherson, a sales manager from Anaheim; Charles Hicks Jr., a Federal Aviation Administration manager from Cypress; Louis Lopez, a police officer, of Anaheim; Betty Vion, a homemaker from Anaheim; Christopher Whorton, a manager from Anaheim; Lowell Williams, a retired teacher from Anaheim, and Mel Aguilar, administrative services director with the Anaheim Family YMCA.
The appointee will serve until November, when he or she must run for election to the board to keep the post.
