Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Motorcycle Officer Struck at Stoplight
A Santa Ana motorcycle officer was rammed while stopped at a red light early Sunday by a man suspected of drunk driving, authorities said.
The officer, Dan McDermott, was stopped at 1st and Standard streets about 12:30 a.m. when he was struck by a car driven by Santa Ana resident Alcaraz Orozco Olegario, Police Sgt. Collie Provence said.
McDermott suffered cuts and bruises and was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
Orozco was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving and was being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, Provence said.
