Panel to Run Symphony for Up to a Year

As expected, the board of directors of the South Coast Symphony voted Tuesday to form a three-member board to run the organization for up to a year, officials said Wednesday.

The three are Richard Burrell, vice president of human resources at National Education Corp. in Irvine; Sally Anne Sheridan, Irvine city councilwoman; and Albert Wong, former part-owner of AST Research, a computer company in Irvine. Sheridan will chair the board.

Formation of the panel is designed to address the orchestra’s financial crisis--an accumulated deficit of $30,000 and an additional $110,000 needed to continue its season.
