President Bush has said he plans to retain Wendy Lee Gramm as chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Gramm’s term as commissioner expires in April, 1990, but she serves as chairman of the five-member group at the discretion of the President. Her appointment does not have to be reconfirmed by the Senate.

Gramm is married to Sen. Phil Gramm (R-Tex.).

Bush also selected the heads of several regulatory agencies Thursday, including Martha Hesse as chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and Anne Brunsdale as chairman of the International Trade Commission.
