Local News in Brief : Garden Grove : Arson Fire Destroys 1 Business, Damages 3
A gasoline-fed arson fire destroyed a Garden Grove travel agency and damaged three other businesses in a strip shopping center Friday morning, officials said.
The fire began inside Travel World, 8907 Westminster Blvd., about 3 a.m. and spread to three other businesses through the attic, Garden Grove Fire Department Capt. Bill Dumas said.
“Gasoline was used to accelerate the fire,” Dumas said. “It was poured into the business and set afire.” Investigators do not have any suspects, he said.
It took 34 firefighters about an hour to contain the fire, which caused $400,000 in damage to the travel agency, an escrow company, a beauty college and a financial planning office.
