Racial Gap: Lingering Problem for Blacks in American Society
Regarding the stories on minority stereotypes in the entertainment industry, it seems to have come down to two choices for minorities: either to patiently wait, as they are constantly told, and slowly make their way up the ladder to acceptable areas in 50 years, or to make the comparisons to the ‘60s and use the same methods that got them seated at lunch counters and the right to vote: marches, protests, boycotts, sit-ins and publicity.
It will embarrass the industry, threaten careers, cause anguish, and those participating will be constantly scolded about moving too fast on this issue like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was repeatedly told, prompting his “Letter From a Birmingham Jail,” but it will force change in a matter of years instead of decades or centuries.
If not now, when?
