Police arrested a teen-ager in connection with a series of downtown stabbings Thursday night, authorities said.

Elias Belasco Florez, 19, was among a group of three to seven teen-agers who allegedly attacked three men between 9 and 9:30 p.m. outside the Carl’s Jr. restaurant at 401 Broadway, across from Horton Plaza.

At 9 p.m. the group allegedly attacked Damaja Cumberland, 18, stabbing him three times in the chest, lower left abdomen and left leg, police said. Cumberland was in good condition Friday at Mercy Hospital, a spokeswoman said.

Fifteen minutes later, police said the same group attacked Troy Edward Barnett, age unknown, stabbing him in the left thigh as he tried to enter the restaurant.

At 9:20 p.m., police said, the group attacked William Deebs, 25, who was being punched as officers. Deebs was stabbed once in the upper left back.

Florez is being held in County Jail in lieu of $10,500 bail. Police believe the stabbings were gang-related and are seeking other suspects.
