Reliever Clear Comes Back to Angels
Right-handed reliever Mark Clear, traded by the Angels 8 years ago and released by the Milwaukee Brewers last October, signed a 1-year contract with the Angels Friday.
Clear, 32, was 1-0 with a 2.79 earned-run average in 25 games for Milwaukee last season.
Clear, with a career 71-49 record and 83 saves, made his major league debut with the Angels in 1979 and was 11-5 with 14 saves. He was 11-11 the next season, then was traded to Boston with Carney Lansford and Rick Miller in exchange for Rick Burleson and Butch Hobson.
In 5 seasons with the Red Sox, Clear was 35-23 with a 4.26 ERA and 38 saves in 225 appearances. He was 14-10 with 22 saves in 3 years with Milwaukee.
