Local News in Brief : Anaheim : Driver Held After Man Is Fatally Struck by Car
An Anaheim man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after police said he fatally struck a pedestrian crossing a street in Anaheim.
Felipe Bahena, 50, of Anaheim was walking west across State College Boulevard south of Virginia Street about 7:14 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a southbound car in the middle of a block where there is no crosswalk, Anaheim Police Lt. Vince Howard said.
Bahena was pronounced dead at the scene with head and chest injuries.
Police arrested Dennis Lee Reed, 38, of Anaheim on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Reed, whose car had swerved into a curb, remained at the scene until police arrived, Howard said. He is being held in Anaheim City Jail.
