Emulex Corp., a Costa Mesa computer company, has named board member Marshall A. Petersen to the positions of senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer.

Petersen was vice president and chief financial officer of Santa Barbara-based Superconductor Technologies Inc. for the past year. He has also held various executive and financial posts with American Microsystems Inc., TRW Inc. and Cincinnati Milacron.

Petersen, who joined Emulex’s board in June, 1988, succeeds Mike Lewis as chief financial officer. Lewis left Emulex in July.

In announcing the appointment, Emulex Chairman Fred B. Cox said Petersen “is a man of great skill, experience and integrity, and his personality and style will mesh exceptionally well with that of our entire management team.”
