Bill White, a former player and longtime announcer, will likely be offered the job as National League president, according to a report in today’s editions of the New York Daily News.
The newspaper said White will probably be offered the job this week. White would become the first black to be president of a professional sports league.
White would succeed Bart Giamatti, who will become commissioner on March 31.
