Mitek Systems, a manufacturer of high-security computer printers and facsimile machines, reported a loss of $242,000 on sales of $3.9 million for the first quarter ended Dec. 31, against a loss of $612,000 on sales of $1.5 million over the same quarter the previous year.

The company blamed the loss mainly on “one-time expenses associated with new products that have recently begun shipping.”
