Tenneco’s fourth-quarter earnings rebounded from a loss a year ago, helped largely by an $867-million gain from the sale of its oil and gas businesses. The Houston-based diversified industrial company reported net income of $598 million, contrasted with a loss of $176 million in the 1987 period. Revenue was $3.6 billion, up 13%. For all 1988, net income was $822 million, contrasted with a $218-million loss in 1987. Revenue totaled $13.2 billion, up 11%.
