Love at Large (Twin Roads). Shooting in Portland. “The Moderns’ ” Alan Rudolph writes and directs this contemporary romantic comedy focusing on detectives and love. Toplining are Tom Berenger, Elizabeth Perkins and Anne Archer. Producer David Blocker.
Triumph of the Spirit (Nova). Shooting in Auschwitz, West Germany. True story with Willem Dafoe portraying Salamo Arouch, a young Greek boxing champ forced into life-or-death gladiator matches while held prisoner at Auschwitz’s notorious death camp. Robert Loggia co-stars as Dafoe’s father. Producers Arnold Kopelson and Shimon Arama. Director Robert M. Young. Screenwriting credit presently undetermined. Also stars Edward James Olmos.
We’re No Angels (Paramount). Shooting in Vancouver. Robert De Niro and Sean Penn star in a comedy written by David Mamet and directed by “Mona Lisa’s” Neil Jordan. The publicity-shy pair portray convicts who are forced to participate in a prison breakout and subsequently hide out in a New England town. Art Linson produces.
