Local News in Brief : Central County : Dream of Accident Turns Real; Child Hit
A man who said he had a dream about running over a child with his car a few nights ago hit an 8-year-old boy who was crossing a street Thursday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The boy, identified as Mauricio Romo Cervantes of Anaheim, suffered a broken leg and moderate scrapes when he was hit by a car driven by Peter Mark Feist, 23, also of Anaheim, according to CHP officer Leslie Ann Hill.
The accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. on Gilbert Street in unincorporated territory between Garden Grove and Anaheim.
Feist told officers that in his dream, he hit a child on the way to work, and he had been so frightened by the image that he changed routes, Hill said.
As he was approaching the crosswalk on Gilbert Street near Pacific Place, he told officers, he looked down at his speedometer. It was only when he looked up that he saw Romo as he was crossing the street with a crossing guard, who was holding up his hand to stop traffic.
Feist was not cited or held pending further investigation, Hill said.
