Fairchild Probes Misconduct Charges
CHANTILLY, Va. — Fairchild Industries Inc. on Tuesday said it is conducting its own investigation of allegations of non-compliance with required testing procedures at one of its aerospace fastener plants.
The defense contracting firm said the allegations against its Vol-Shan Chatsworth aerospace division in Culver City were made by a former employee who claimed substandard work was being done at the facility.
Last week the FBI announced it was investigating Vol-Shan for what it called possible falsification of quality-control records at the California plant.
Despite the investigation, Carlyle Group, a Washington-based investment group, said Monday that it was not abandoning its unsolicited $230-million takeover bid for the Chantilly, Va., company.
