Quayle on Soviets
As an atheist, I strongly resent Quayle’s pontificating on foreign policy from a religious point of view.
Whatever happened to separation of church and state?
As an individual, I am insulted by inanity spouted from a bully pulpit. What kind of brain does it take to affirm that Soviet officials “hate” God? Is Quayle unaware that most Soviet officials are atheists, and that as all atheists, they don’t believe in God? How does his mind operate in reasoning that they hate or love, or feel, or are concerned with something that for them does not exist? Or does the scope of his mind really have such a short radius?
In order to minimize international embarrassment for the United States, he should produce examples of Soviet foreign policy driven by hatred of God. If he is unable or unwilling to do so, embarrassment is inevitable.
